 Morgan’s Miscellaneous Musings

It has been quite a while since I last sat down to attempt to write something, including because I had not been able to access my laptop computer for several months until recently.

In addition, I had finally managed to get around to clearing all of the numerous junk clutter off of the dining table permanently recently, instead of moving it to the bed and then putting it back on the table again. It was no small, nor easy, chore and effort, but well worth doing.

Not to mention about how, without going into all of the details, I am often zonked out and unable to stay awake due to the pain management regimen that I am currently on. In fact, at the moment, it is not easy for me to stay awake and not fall asleep, as often happens in the late morning and early afternoon.

Earlier, I had zonked out while seated in the recliner. Sometimes I end up sleeping most of the day because of it.

Other times, I simply don’t have anything in mind worth writing about. This is not to complain, however, just to explain.

Recently, I had a meeting with my oncologist and it was decided that I will begin the gentler pill form of chemotherapy (taking it twice a day for seven days, morning and night and, then every other week, with one week off), which hopefully won’t affect me too much once the regimen begins (it is due to be shipped to me early next week, receiving it next Tuesday, the 30th).

It was either that or, going untreated, being put on hospice care with possibly six months or less to live, although it could have been possible I would live beyond that timeline.

In this way, by pursuing treatment, it could help shrink the tumor in my lower colon and allow me to live somewhat longer. Although the oncologist and I hadn’t discussed it during the most recent appointment, the problem is that the cancer had also spread to my liver as well, so who knows.

In the meantime, however, other than the pain being experienced here and there, I am otherwise doing relatively okay.

In addition, Nurse Cleo (RN: Real Nurse) continues to take good care of me, providing me with needed comfort and companionship. As mentioned before, hypothetically speaking, she is likely worth at least three or more prescriptions that I probably would rather not be taking. She is the best medicine. Indeed. None better.

Cleo is twelve (12) years old (as of June) and, come early December, it will be eleven (11) years since we had adopted each other at the Central Vermont Humane Society (CVHS).
